Page 7 - Affiliate Programs that Generate Cash
Did you go straight to this section from the table of contents? DID YOU? Yes, this is the most compelling section, but learning what programs generate the most cash will not help you become a millionaire unless you understand how to use them. Feel free to read this section, but then go back to the beginning and read the entire E-book so you understand better how to effectively implement these programs.
Below are programs that I have found to generate cash right from the beginning, provided you do your homework and use complimentary advertising. Remember, there are thousands of affiliate programs out there, but I’m only going to mention the very top few available. In order to find more, just type “affiliate programs” into a search engine (like Google.com), and millions of hits will come back.
You are your own best judge, and these are just suggestions. Did you notice that Commission Junction is listed here? I do believe that this is a good program if it’s implemented properly. You will also see the Value Click is listed. Value Click is one of the largest advertisers of scumware out there, but the program does pay well. Maybe they will get rid of the scumware and become a truly high-class advertiser.
(
) Yes, Google Adsense is an extension of Google.com. Google Adsense is possibly the number 1 affiliate advertiser on the Internet right now, and I believe it is the prototype of the next generation of affiliate programs. Google takes a lot of the work out of affiliate programs.
Remember my failure with Commission Junction? I firmly believe it was my lack of creating complimentary advertising from their options that caused the serious lack of response.
Google takes care of that automatically. The program uses the algorithms of it’s search engine to determine the content of each page automatically, so the advertising matches the content. This is a God-send for people that publish free Web content (like Daffodil Valley Times and Windows Galore), but be careful if you are selling a product or service!
(Beware of placing Google Adsense on a site selling products and services)
Google Adsense (
) is very good at determining the content of a Web page, and advertising products directly related to that content. For instance, let’s say you are selling figurines. These are high-quality figurines, and maybe they cost just a bit more than the standard. You decide to join Google Adsense, and you put the banner right on the top of your page.
You see it already, don’t you? The program will determine what you have on the page, and advertise products from competitor’s right on your own Web site.
Amazon.com claims to be the first affiliate program on the Internet, but there were a couple before them. Of the very few before Amazon.com, I don’t think any are left, and Amazon.com is the largest affiliate program on the Internet right now.
(Google is quickly catching up with Amazon.com, but Google’s AdSense program is not in direct competition with Amazon.com)
Amazon.com has a very detailed and diverse affiliate program, and it will only work with attention to detail and complimentary advertising. Read the section above, What Is Working to learn how to effectively use Amazon.com.
Commission Junction’s affiliate program is much like Amazon.com. By now, you should know my story of how I treated these two programs differently. The main difference between the two is that Commission Junction does not sell their own products.
Commission Junction boasts that it is one of the largest third-party ad networks in the world, and they may be. They have advertising for companies in almost every industry, and usually several companies to choose from in each industry they have.
Since Commission Junction is a Pay Per Sale (see the section on Picking The Right Type Of Program above) program, you have the advantage of possibly making the largest amount of money with this program, but it is the most difficult type of program in which you actually get paid. PPS programs only pay you if someone buys something.
(Warning: As of this writing, Commission Junction will actually charge you if you under-perform! That’s right, if you do not do as well as they think you should, they will charge you for using their program! HOWEVER, if you buy a lot online (like I do), you might find some companies you buy from on their site, so you can get comissions on your own sales!)
Value Click is listed here as the type of program to avoid. I’ve used Value Click for years, and they have consistently sent me checks for up to $300 per month, but I don’t use them anymore.
Value Click allows publishers to push Spyware (see the section above) onto client computers. This Spyware tracks what you do and where you go, so despite my having used Value Click for as long as I did, I would recommend to NOT use them until they announce that they have stopped allowing Spyware through their programs (Note: My affiliate sales from other publichsers like Google went up after I stopped using ValueClick, because people stopped getting spyware every time they came to my sites)..
There are thousands of programs out there, and most of them are legitimate programs designed to help you make money. Do your homework, though, and research the reputation of the company. See the References section at the bottom for help.
